Certificate III in Driving Operations, this is a qualification for those engaged in driving operation job roles within the Transport and Logistics Industry.

It involves a defined range of skilled operations, usually within a range of broader related activities involving known routines, methods and procedures, with some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures and within known time constraints.

To successfully complete this qualification, you require twelve (18) units of competence. These 18 units are comprised of six (6) core units which is compulsory, one (1) licensing/industry elective unit and eleven (11) elective units.

Elective units selected provide a vocational focus for the qualification and are relevant to the qualification level, job role, work outcomes and local industry needs.

The course unit selection represents a reduced suite of elective unit options that have been selected and approved for delivery by Triumph Training Academy – this may not include the full elective unit suite of options available under the national qualification packaging rules.


It is a requirement under Queensland legislation that applicants for Bus Driver DA are able to speak and understand English. All new applicants for taxi driver authorisation (DA) who intend to drive in major taxi service areas must undertake the Queensland Taxi Driver English Assessment (QTDEA) at a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).


Total course nominal hours, depending on the state jurisdiction of delivery and elective units selected, are 335 hours.

The course can be delivered over a range of course durations, depending on the needs and characteristics of the student and their employer where relevant.

Occupation Description
Agitator Driver Agitator Drivers are heavy vehicle drivers who operate and maintain concrete agitators. They receive batched concrete into the agitator, and deliver it to work sites. They negotiate with building site personnel to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of the premixed concrete and ensure that it is not contaminated before it is poured on site.
Bus Driver (Route Service)
Bus Drivers drive vehicles efficiently and safely to carry passengers along timetabled routes. They operate electronic ticketing systems, and may load and unload luggage and freight.
Freight Driver
Freight Drivers transport freight using heavy vehicles. They use information technology to maintain contact while on the road and for preparing and recording the freight carried and dispatched. They are also required to inspect, assemble, load and unload their vehicles.
Linehaul Driver
Linehaul Drivers transport loads using heavy and multi combination vehicles to transport goods and materials over long distances, usually over set routes. They may transport oversized loads, materials or items and be required to drive to remote locations. They may spend extended periods away from home.
Pilot vehicle driver Pilot vehicle drivers operate a pilot or escort vehicle to warn other road users of the presence of an oversize vehicle/combination. They use communication devices to maintain contact with the oversize vehicle/combination. They may also be required to control traffic.
